Paddleboarding on Lake Torrassa, in the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu
The mirror of Lake Torrassa is what makes this paddleboarding experience different. The board glides across a surface with no current, no waves and no boat traffic, allowing individual balance practice in the heart of the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. You start sitting or kneeling, learn to paddle with the adjustable paddle and stand up when your body is ready to try. The lake sits at mountain altitude: cold water, clean air and a perfect reflection of the Vall d'Àneu summits.
The session starts at the RocRoi base beside the jetty. The team provides an individual SUP board, the paddle and a compulsory certified buoyancy aid. A quick briefing explains how to get on the board, how to go from kneeling to standing and where to head on the lake. Most people spend the first few minutes on their knees, testing the stability. When the body feels comfortable, the stand-up begins: one foot, then the other, knees bent, eyes on the horizon — not on the feet.
The moment you remember comes when your body stabilises upright for the first time and the board holds a straight line without wobbling. Below, the reflection of the forest and the Alt Pirineu summits. Around you, absolute silence. The sensation is almost of floating above another landscape: the Pyrenees above and, upside-down, beneath the board.

FAQs
Is it hard to keep your balance on the board?
Less than you'd think. SUP boards are stable and Lake Torrassa has no waves or current, which makes balancing far easier — even for complete beginners. Most people stand up within the first 10–15 minutes.
Can I bring my dog on the board?
Check with the centre on the day. We usually allow it if the dog is calm and used to water. The size of the individual SUP board accommodates small and medium dogs without a problem.
What gear should I bring?
Comfortable water clothing (swimsuit or similar), optional water shoes, sun protection, a towel and a dry change of clothes. The board, paddle and certified buoyancy aid are provided by RocRoi.
What happens if I fall in?
Nothing serious: you wear a compulsory certified buoyancy aid throughout, there is no current and the depth is safe. Most falls happen during the first attempts to stand up. Getting back on the board from the water takes 1–2 attempts to learn.
Can I combine it with kayaking or other lake activities?
Yes. The RocRoi Llac de la Torrassa base offers kayak hire, Big SUP, pedalos and archery at the same meeting point. The most popular plan is to combine paddleboarding with kayaking to experience two different ways of navigating the same lake.
