Pallars Adventure Pack: Rafting + Barranc de l'Infern + Via Ferrata (2 or 3 Days)

Pallars Adventure Pack: Rafting + Barranc de l'Infern + Via Ferrata (2 or 3 Days)

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Pallars has three ways of making you feel the mountain: water, canyon and rock.

This pack brings them together in a single break, with RocRoi qualified guides from start to finish. First the river, as a team, inside the raft on the classic Noguera Pallaresa stretch. Then the canyon, hemmed between limestone walls, with long abseils and the Infern cave as its seal. And to close, the vertical: the Salt del Botanal via ferrata in Alins, Nepalese bridge and open views over the Vall Ferrera.

  • Level 2–3, no previous experience essential
  • Estimated total duration: full intensive day (2-day format) or half/full-day sessions (3-day format)
  • Ideal for: groups of friends, active couples and families with teenagers wanting to combine water and mountain in one trip

The Pallars Adventure Pack experience

The Pallars Sobirà is one of the few comarcas in the Pyrenees where you can experience river, canyon and rock from the same base of operations. The RocRoi Pallars Adventure Pack makes the most of it: three guided activities, a single meeting point in Llavorsí and two duration formats to match the group's rhythm.

The adventure begins on the water. The Llavorsí–Rialp rafting is the most popular descent on the Noguera Pallaresa: progressive rapids, swells, rock walls, riverside woodland and a qualified guide on board reading the river with you. An active, shared experience that prepares the group for what comes next.

Then comes the Barranc de l'Infern, in the Congost de Collegats. It is one of Catalonia's most emblematic descents: long abseils, narrow passages, natural slides and the Infern cave, where the light enters almost magically. Vertical, aquatic and full of character from the first abseil. On exit, the canyon drops you straight back to the Noguera Pallaresa.

You close the pack on the wall. The Salt del Botanal via ferrata in Alins (K3 on the Hüsler scale) is intermediate level: vertical and continuous, with a Nepalese bridge and a final viewpoint over the Vall Ferrera. Solid rock, authentic alpine atmosphere and the feeling, on the way down, of having read the Pyrenees in its three languages.

In the 2-day format, day one packs in the water plan (rafting in the morning, canyon in the afternoon) and day two is reserved for the via ferrata. In the 3-day format, each activity has its own day, with time in between to discover Sort, La Pobla de Segur or the Vall d'Àneu.

What the experience feels like

Families with teenagers: a break that brings everyone together around three very different plans. The 3-day format is the most recommended for families: the rafting works as a friendly opener, the canyon is experienced as a block and the via ferrata closes with a sense of achievement.

Couples: a weekend or long weekend combining emotion, nature and moments of shared trust. 2-day format if time is short; 3 days if you want to squeeze the Pallars without rushing.

Groups of friends: rafting to loosen the group up, canyon to get stuck in and via ferrata to celebrate at the top. The intensive 2-day format works brilliantly for hen and stag dos, birthdays or reunions.

What is included in the RocRoi experience?

  • Day 1 — Rafting Llavorsí–Rialp: full technical gear (wetsuit, windproof jacket, neoprene shoes, buoyancy aid, helmet with GoPro mount and paddle). Qualified white-water guide. Return transport from the RocRoi centre to the put-in. Free parking

FAQs

What is the difference between the 2-day and the 3-day format?

The 2-day format packs everything in: Llavorsí–Rialp rafting in the morning and Barranc de l'Infern in the afternoon on day one, Salt del Botanal via ferrata on day two. It is the intensive option, ideal for groups with limited time and good fitness. The 3-day format assigns one activity per day (rafting, canyon, via ferrata), leaves room to explore the Pallars Sobirà in between and is the most comfortable option for families with teenagers and couples who want to enjoy without rushing.

Can I do the rafting and the Barranc de l'Infern on the same day?

Yes. The 2-day format is designed for exactly that: Llavorsí–Rialp rafting in the morning (approx. 2 h 30 including briefing and transport) and Barranc de l'Infern in the afternoon (approx. 4 hours including approach and descent). It is a long, active day: swimming ability, normal-to-active fitness and energy are essential.

Do I need previous experience in any of the three activities?

Not essential, but worth considering the profile of each. The Llavorsí–Rialp rafting is Level 2 (beginner-active), accessible with no experience. The Barranc de l'Infern is Level 3 in summer and Level 4 in spring (long abseils, optional sump, vertical environment): some experience or comfort with heights and rope is advisable. The Salt del Botanal via ferrata is K3 (intermediate): demanding but accessible with a guide. All three include a pre-activity technical briefing and a qualified guide at all times.

What is the minimum age for the pack?

With an accompanying adult, 12 in summer and 15 in spring, subject to flow and the professional's judgement. Unaccompanied, 18. The activity that sets the floor is the Barranc de l'Infern (long abseils in a confined environment): if the minor does not meet its minimum age, it is better to book the rafting and via ferrata separately.

Is overnight accommodation included?

No. The pack includes the three guided activities only, with technical gear, briefing, qualified guide and insurance. Llavorsí, Rialp, Sort and the Vall d'Àneu have hotels, campsites and rural houses minutes from the RocRoi centre; our booking team can help if needed.

Is there transport between the activities?

There is no specific transport between the RocRoi centre and the Barranc de l'Infern trailhead or the Salt del Botanal via ferrata start in Alins. The Llavorsí–Rialp rafting does include return transfer from the centre to the river put-in. For canyon and via ferrata, travel is in your own vehicle (approx. 40 min to the canyon; similar to the via ferrata).

What happens if the weather prevents one of the three activities?

If flow or weather conditions are unsafe for any activity, RocRoi will notify in advance and offer a date change, an equivalent activity from the Pallars catalogue or a refund for the affected amount, in line with the current cancellation policy.

When is the best time to book the pack?

The Pallars white-water season runs from late March to early October. In spring (May and June) the Pyrenean snowmelt leaves the Noguera Pallaresa and the Barranc de l'Infern at their most exciting and demanding; in summer (July and August) both ease off and are the most recommended option for families and groups. The Salt del Botanal via ferrata is practicable throughout the season.

Can I book just one of the three activities?

Yes. Llavorsí–Rialp rafting, Barranc de l'Infern and Salt del Botanal K3 via ferrata are available as standalone products. The pack is the recommended option if you want to combine all three with a RocRoi guide and a single meeting point.

Note on activity delivery

Activity delivery and operational details may be adjusted based on flow and weather conditions. The RocRoi Booking team will contact the client in advance if the schedule needs adapting.

Llavorsí Family Pack: 3 Adventures in the Pallars Sobirà (2 to 3 Days)

Llavorsí Family Pack: 3 Adventures in the Pallars Sobirà (2 to 3 Days)

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Llavorsí Family Pack brings together in 2 or 3 days the three essential ways to experience the Pallars Sobirà with children: rafting on the classic Llavorsí-Rialp stretch of the Noguera Pallaresa, beginner-level Berrós canyon and kayak hire on Lake Torrassa, in the heart of the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu.

For families looking to pack adrenaline, water and independence into a long weekend or a short break, from a single base and with the RocRoi team tailoring the schedule to each group.

  • 3 activities in 2–3 days — family-friendly from age 6
  • RocRoi base in Llavorsí — tailor-made planning
  • Rafting + canyoning + kayak in the Alt Pirineu

Llavorsí Family Pack: 2–3 days of Pallars from a single base

The Llavorsí Family Pack brings together three essential adventures in the Pallars Sobirà over 2 or 3 days from the RocRoi base in Llavorsí, on the banks of the Noguera Pallaresa. A convenient way to combine river, canyon and lake in the same stay, at whatever pace each family sets, without changing hotels.

Day one starts with rafting on the Llavorsí-Rialp stretch, the most classic and complete descent on the Noguera Pallaresa. After the briefing and kitting-up at the base, the family is driven to the put-in point in RocRoi vehicles. The descent combines fun rapids, calm sections and a qualified guide who adjusts the intensity for each group; return transport to the centre is included. Day two is Berrós Canyon, just minutes from Llavorsí: wetsuit, helmet and harness at the base, a short transfer and a discovery-level descent with entertaining water sections, straightforward passages and 1 h 30 min of actual canyoning. Perfect for a first time with children from age 6.

The highlight comes with the kayak hire on Lake Torrassa, in the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. The family chooses its set-up — double, triple or quadruple — and paddles for two hours at its own pace across still waters. You cross the lake from shore to shore with the Alt Pirineu summits closing the horizon. Two or three days, and the last one gives many families their first real independence on the water.

Note: For organisational reasons, the order of the activities may vary. The team will let you know in advance.

What the experience feels like

Families: three complementary disciplines — river, canyon and lake — from a single base, suitable from age 6 when accompanied. The pack moves from the lively pace of rafting to canyoning and closes with the calm independence of kayaking in the Alt Pirineu.

Couples with children: one base, simplified logistics and three different settings in the Pallars Sobirà on the same trip. The Booking team organises the days so you don't have to think.

Groups of friends / extended families: flexible pace, 2–3 days that let you alternate intense activity and lakeside relaxation, with kayaks for up to 4 to configure the group however you like.

What is included in the RocRoi experience?

  • 3 activities: Llavorsí-Rialp rafting, Berrós canyon and kayak hire (2 h) on Lake Torrassa
  • Technical gear per discipline: wetsuit, CE-certified helmet, buoyancy aid, harness, neoprene shoes, paddle and kayak (single, double, triple or quadruple — choose to suit your group)
  • Qualified guides per discipline for rafting and canyoning; kayak in self-guided format after initial briefing
  • Transport to the rafting put-in point and return to the Llavorsí base included
  • Free parking at the RocRoi bases in Llavorsí and Lake Torrassa
  • Accident insurance
  • Civil liability insurance
  • Not included: accommodation, meals and travel to Lake Torrassa (La Guingueta d'Àneu).
  • Cancellation Policy: Up to 5 days before: full refund. Up to 48 hours before: date change or ADVENTURE voucher.

What to bring – Llavorsí Family Pack

For your comfort and safety, we recommend bringing:

  • Swimsuit and towel
  • Rash guard or thermal top for the water days (worn under the wetsuit)
  • Trainers or sports shoes that can get wet, with good grip and laces (no flip-flops, no open footwear)
  • Change of clothes and a dry set for after each activity
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and lip balm
  • Glasses strap for those who need one

Practical details – Llavorsí Family Pack

No previous experience is required for any of the activities; these are active days with continuous water. Swimming ability is compulsory. The Llavorsí-Rialp rafting sets the overall minimum age for the pack and varies by season according to the Noguera Pallaresa water level.

  • Minimum age: 6 in summer / 12 in spring with an accompanying adult (depending on rafting water level) / 18 unaccompanied.
  • Total duration: 2 to 3 days, one activity per day (approx. 2–3 h per session); option to double up on the same day — just note it in the booking comments.
  • Fitness: swimming ability is compulsory. Not recommended for pregnant women on the rafting, nor for people with serious heart conditions. Those with back or shoulder problems should consult before the kayak.
  • Attitude: eagerness to enjoy as a family, listen to the guide and paddle at your own pace through the Pallars Sobirà. No need to be sporty — just willing to experience it.

FAQs

How are the 2–3 days organised and who adjusts the schedule?

The pack is designed as one activity per day over 2 or 3 days, ideal for a long weekend or a short break. After booking, the RocRoi Booking team will contact you to finalise the schedule based on family preferences, ages and conditions on the day. The order may vary for organisational reasons and will be communicated in advance.

Can we fit two activities into the same day?

Yes, as long as logistics and conditions allow. Note it in the booking comments (for example, rafting in the morning and kayak at Torrassa in the afternoon) and the centre will confirm feasibility before finalising the schedule.

From what age can children take part?

The overall minimum age is 6 with an accompanying adult in summer; in spring it rises to 12 due to the Noguera Pallaresa water level on the rafting. The kayak on Lake Torrassa accepts children from age 4 if booked separately. Under-18s must always be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Do we need previous experience in any of the 3 activities?

No. All 3 activities are Discovery or Beginner level, with a full briefing and certified equipment. Rafting and canyoning always have a qualified guide; the kayak on Torrassa is self-guided after the initial briefing on still waters.

Are accommodation and meals included?

No. The pack includes the 3 activities with all technical gear and insurance, but not accommodation or meals. The team can recommend family-friendly places to stay in Llavorsí and the Pallars Sobirà.

4-Adventure Family Pack in Llavorsí: Rafting, Lake Kayak, River Kayak and Canyoning in the Pyrenees

4-Adventure Family Pack in Llavorsí: Rafting, Lake Kayak, River Kayak and Canyoning in the Pyrenees

Llavorsí, Lleida

The pack that makes children ask when you're coming back, not when you're heading home. Let the water do the planning: rafting on the Noguera Pallaresa, kayaking on Lake Torrassa, canyoning in the Berrós and a river kayak introduction, all combinable over two, three or four days near Llavorsí.

  • Beginner level: from age 6 in summer (with an adult)
  • 2, 3 or 4 days of water activities in the Pallars Sobirà
  • Four different activities, one destination, logistics sorted

The experience — Pallars Sobirà from start to finish

You arrive at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí on the first day and the river is already there, waiting. The Noguera Pallaresa rises in the Pyrenees and flows slowly at first, then livelier, and that first day you jump in with the rafting boat.

The team hands out the technical gear — wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet, paddle — and the guide runs the briefing before you hit the water: paddling technique, position in the raft, what to do if the group gets separated. Nothing you won't learn in ten minutes. Then the river: progressive rapids from Llavorsí to Rialp, with the riverside woodland closing in on both sides and the rock walls of the Noguera Pallaresa as a ceiling. Six-year-olds come out soaking wet and asking to go again. So do the parents.

The second day can shift completely in mood. Lake Torrassa, inside the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu, is the opposite of the river: silence, calm water, Pyrenean summits reflected on the surface. You take out the kayak — double, triple or quadruple depending on the group — learn how the paddle works in ten minutes, and the family sets off alone. Full autonomy. Reaching the far bank and looking back is the moment most families remember most.

One afternoon or another day, the Berrós Canyon arrives: enclosed water, simple passages, wet rock underfoot and the sound of falling water. The most conveniently located beginner canyoning in Llavorsí.

And the Kayak Introduction on the Noguera Pallaresa closes the loop: understanding the current from inside a solo kayak, with the guide alongside, is another way of reading the same river you already ran on the raft.

Four activities, four ways of being in the water. The Pallars Sobirà has room for all of it and more.

What the experience feels like

Families: Shared adrenaline and sorted logistics: rafting with rapids, calm lake kayaking and beginner canyoning, all from age 6 with an adult. The best answer to "we want to do something together" in the Pyrenees.

FAQs

What are the minimum ages for the family pack?

The general minimum age for the pack is 6 years in summer, always accompanied by an adult.

Do we have to book all the activities at once?

You can book the full pack or each activity separately, though the same discount does not apply. We recommend booking in advance in summer to secure your preferred dates. The RocRoi team can help coordinate schedules if you plan to combine several activities on the same day.

Is prior experience in rafting, kayaking or canyoning required?

No. All four activities in the pack are designed for beginners. The qualified guide explains technique, equipment and protocols before each activity. Swimming ability is the only essential requirement for river and canyoning activities.

Do activities go ahead even if it rains?

Water activities are rarely cancelled due to rain, as the group ends up wet regardless. They are only modified or cancelled if water levels or weather conditions affect safety. In that case a date change or ADVENTURE voucher is offered.

Where do we stay between activities?

RocRoi does not manage accommodation directly, but Llavorsí and the Vall Àneu offer campsites, rural cottages and hotels just a few minutes from the activity bases. We can point you in the right direction if you ask when you book.

Upper Estarón Canyon: Canyoning with Abseils in the Pyrenees

Upper Estarón Canyon: Canyoning with Abseils in the Pyrenees

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Upper Estarón Canyon blends technique and adrenaline: slate rock, natural slides and abseils up to 20 metres in the Pallars Sobirà region. The RocRoi team guides you through the gorge.

Beginner-intermediate level in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park area. Qualified guides and full equipment included.

  • Abseils up to 20m over Pyrenean slate
  • Beginner-intermediate level, no prior experience needed
  • Alt Pirineu Natural Park · Pallars Sobirà

The Upper Estarón Canyon descent

The adventure starts at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí, a ten-minute drive from the canyon. The guide team hands out the technical gear and leads the group along the approach trail to the start of the gorge. Before entering the water, practical training is part of the programme: abseiling technique with a descender, use of carabiners and body positioning for the slides — all explained on dry land so every participant enters safely.

Estarón de Dalt (Upper Estarón) has a unique character in the Pallars Sobirà. The rock is slate, extraordinarily slippery when wet: the natural slides become a stone rollercoaster. The pace alternates between progressing through boulders and vertical abseils, the longest being twenty metres. The guide secures every descent while the group advances, gaining technical confidence. Bearded vultures are often seen gliding over the canyon walls.

The canyon closes in with no escape route after the second abseil. What started as an initiation ends up demanding the calm of someone who knows how to move vertically. Upon exiting the riverbed, the return to Llavorsí takes ten minutes, where changing rooms, showers and free parking await.

What the experience feels like

Families: slate slides the kids will never forget and abseils that show adults the Pyrenees are best enjoyed from the inside. Upper Estarón is the canyon that turns a family into a team.

Couples: shared technique, controlled adrenaline and a slate gorge that can only be seen from the water. Estarón de Dalt is the trip that takes couples beyond conventional hiking without exposing them to unnecessary risks.

Groups of friends: 20-metre abseils demand focus, and the laughs come naturally on the slides. A day in the Valls d'Àneu that the group will remember next time someone suggests doing 'something different' in the Pyrenees.

What is included in your RocRoi experience?

  • Full kit: wetsuit, windproof jacket, neoprene booties, helmet, harness, safety lanyard and CE-approved descender
  • Qualified mountain guide/instructor throughout the activity
  • Exclusive customer parking
  • Access to showers and changing rooms at the Llavorsí adventure centre
  • Accident and civil liability insurance

  • Minimum age: 6 years with a responsible adult / 18 years unaccompanied.
  • Total duration: 2h 30 min (transfer, kit-up and descent).
  • Descent duration: 1h 30 min actual time in the water.

FAQs

How difficult is the Upper Estarón Canyon?

It is a beginner-intermediate canyon. It combines natural slate slides and abseils of up to 20 metres. No prior technical experience is required: RocRoi guides provide full training before entering the gorge. Normal physical fitness and a head for heights are required.

Is it suitable for families with young children?

Yes. The minimum age is 6, accompanied by a responsible adult. The guide adapts the pace to the group and supervises every slide and abseil. It is one of the most highly rated activities for families seeking a first technical experience in the Pyrenees in complete safety.

Do I need to know how to abseil before I come?

No, you don't. Before entering the gorge, the guide runs a practical training session on dry land: descender, harness, carabiners and slide technique. By the first abseil you will have practised dry, and supervision is continuous throughout the descent.

What is the difference between Upper Estarón and Lower Estarón?

Upper Estarón is the beginner-intermediate section: abseils up to 20 metres, suitable from age 6, ideal for families and first technical experiences. Lower Estarón is the advanced section: abseils up to 40 metres, higher technical and physical demands, no under-16s. If you have already done the Upper, the Lower is your natural next challenge.

When is the best time for canyoning in Estarón?

The usual season runs from mid-March to early October. Spring offers higher water levels and lush scenery. Summer is perfect for enjoying the cool water. Autumn provides spectacular low light and unique Pyrenean colours. In the event of heavy rain or hydrological warnings, the activity may be modified for safety.

Hell Canyon "L'Infern" in Pallars

Hell Canyon "L'Infern" in Pallars

Llavorsí, Lleida

Hell Canyon (Barranc de l'Infern) is one of the most iconic canyoning descents in Catalonia, in the Pallars – Lleida Pyrenees. Framed inside the Collegats Gorge, steep and aquatic, it is a canyon with character from the very first abseil.

Here you come to enjoy pure, sporty canyoning, accompanied by expert guides who guarantee safety and control in every manoeuvre.

  • Adventure level in summer and more demanding conditions in spring
  • Long abseils up to 22 m, slides and jumps
  • Spectacular cave halfway down where the light enters in a magical way.

The technical canyoning experience in Pallars

Hell Canyon (L'Infern) is a classic reference for medium-difficulty canyoning in summer and advanced level in spring in the Lleida Pyrenees. Located between La Pobla de Segur and Sort, it combines verticality, continuous abseils and a truly authentic mountain atmosphere.

After a first briefing, gear check and technical explanations, we start a 30-minute approach after crossing the Noguera Pallaresa River up to the canyon’s entrance. From the first descent you feel its character: narrow sections, polished walls and abseils that require precision and good rope management.

The descent includes four 9-metre abseils, one 22-metre abseil, one 11-metre abseil and one 7-metre abseil; several slides, an optional siphon and different jumps. The canyon is also known for its spectacular cave halfway through. At the end of the route you “fall” straight into the Noguera Pallaresa – what a feeling!

Progression is continuous and technical. The guide sets up and supervises every manoeuvre, setting the pace and ensuring that each participant descends with fun and safety.

The environment adds a spectacular touch: the Collegats Gorge, a deep crack in limestone walls shaped by water, Pyrenean silence and a real sense of adventure.

This canyon is designed for active people looking for a controlled, professional challenge. At the end, the feeling is clear: satisfaction, learning and deep respect for the mountain.

FAQs

What is the best time of year?

From April to the end of September. In spring, snowmelt makes the flow more exciting, while in August the canyon is more accessible but the water is still refreshingly cold (as you would expect in the Pyrenees).

What makes it different from other canyons in Pallars?

Its continuous verticality and the length of its abseils make it a truly sporty route for any adventure lover.

Do I need previous experience in abseiling or canyoning?

It is recommended but not essential. Our guides teach you the technique, but the canyon is demanding and technical; if it is your very first time in the mountains, you might feel more comfortable starting with a beginner-level canyon (such as Berrós).

What if I am afraid of heights?

The canyon is very narrow and includes abseils up to 20 metres. If your fear of heights is very limiting, this might not be the best option. However, the safety feeling provided by the ropes often helps participants overcome it.

Is it close to Sort?

Yes. It is located about 20 km from Sort and only 7 km from La Pobla de Segur.

Estarón Inferior Canyon Llavorsí: technical descent in the Alt Pirineu

Estarón Inferior Canyon Llavorsí: technical descent in the Alt Pirineu

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Estarón Inferior is the technical stretch of the Estarón canyon — smaller in length, greater in demand than the Superior. Here the spotlight is on abseiling: more vertical waterfalls, continuous rope manoeuvres and the wet Pallars Sobirà slate underfoot. Adventure level in the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu, designed for those who already have canyon experience and want to refine their technique.

  • Level 3 Adventure — technical perfection descent
  • From 12 years with an adult, prior experience recommended
  • Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu · Pallars Sobirà

Estarón Inferior canyon in the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu

The Estarón Inferior is not just another stretch: it is the next step up. Participants who unclip the first rope here already know what a descender is and where the via ferrata lanyards go. The barely three-kilometre watercourse packs a sequence of technical abseils on wet Pallars Sobirà slate, and the verticality raises the bar above the Estarón Superior descending upstream.

The day begins at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí. The licensed guide hands out full technical gear — high-density wetsuit, wetsuit shoes, harness with lanyards, safety carabiners and descender — and runs through every manoeuvre on dry land before heading to the canyon. The transfer to the entry point is in your own vehicle following the guide's car. Once in the watercourse, the approach on foot is short: the Inferior starts quickly.

The progression is a chain of abseils. The slate, slippery when wet, demands working the feet against the wall and trusting the equipment. Each waterfall drops more vertically than the last, and the canyon offers no intermediate exit: once inside, the only way out is downstream. The guide belays each descent, but the manoeuvre is executed by each participant individually — making the Estarón Inferior a real rope-technique school. Above, the sky of the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu frames the walls and, with luck, a bearded vulture from the Valls d'Àneu appears over the gorge.

The highlight is the most vertical waterfall of the descent: a free abseil at the end of the route where the group descends through falling water and lands in a deep pool at the canyon floor. Back at the Llavorsí base, hot showers close a day of pure technique.

What the experience feels like

Couples: a technical descent for two who have found the beginner's route too easy. Pallars Sobirà slate, chained abseils and the final waterfall as the day's defining image.

Groups of friends: the natural step after the Estarón Superior. Each abseil on the Inferior raises the challenge and the group moves forward with the shared satisfaction of each signed manoeuvre. Real rope school.

Premium and exclusivity: small group departure, dedicated licensed guide and a technical perfection canyon within the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. Serious technique with the Pallars Sobirà as the backdrop.

What is included in the RocRoi experience?

  • Full technical equipment: high-density wetsuit, CE-certified helmet, harness with lanyards, safety carabiners, descender, wetsuit shoes
  • Licensed guide (TD2 Canyon Sports Technician)
  • Accident insurance and civil liability insurance
  • Showers and changing rooms at RocRoi Llavorsí base on return
  • Not included: Transport from base to the canyon entry point: done in your own vehicle following the guide's car. If you do not have a vehicle, contact the company before booking.

What to bring – Estarón Inferior Canyon

For your comfort and safety, we recommend bringing:

  • Swimwear
  • Lycra or thermal underlayer (worn under the wetsuit)
  • Sports footwear that can get wet, with a good sole and laces (no flip-flops or open shoes)
  • Change of footwear for after the activity
  • Water and sun cream
  • Sunglasses
  • Towel and change of clothes

Practical details – Estarón Inferior Canyon Llavorsí

Adventure level, sustained physical effort and technical refinement. The Inferior is the technical stretch of the Estarón: more vertical waterfalls and chained abseils with no intermediate exit once inside. Good physical fitness, a complete absence of vertigo and, ideally, prior canyoning experience are required. Swimming ability is mandatory.

  • Minimum age: 12 years with a responsible adult / 18 years unaccompanied.
  • Level: Adventure (Level 3), sustained physical effort / technical refinement.
  • Total duration: 4 hours (3 hours of actual descent, including transfer by own vehicle and approach).
  • Fitness and limitations: swimming ability is mandatory. Not suitable for pregnant women, people with vertigo or significant medical conditions. Not wheelchair accessible. Prior canyoning experience is strongly recommended.
  • Attitude: focus on the manoeuvre, respect for the rope and a desire to improve. The Estarón Inferior rewards technical composure, not brute force.

FAQs

What is the difference between the Estarón Superior and the Estarón Inferior?

The Superior is the beginner-to-intermediate stretch: slate slides, abseils of up to 20 metres and a more playful pace. The Inferior is the technical refinement stretch: more vertical waterfalls, continuous rope manoeuvres and less water play. Superior for those discovering the Pallars through canyoning; Inferior for those who want to perfect their technique.

What is the difficulty level of the Estarón Inferior?

Adventure level — technical / refinement. The verticality is greater than on the upper stretch and the abseils demand more attention and skill. It is the option for those who have already had a first contact with canyoning and are looking for a more technical challenge in the Pallars Sobirà.

Is prior experience required?

Strongly recommended. Given its technical character, having completed at least one previous canyon is advisable, along with good physical fitness and a complete absence of vertigo. If your first canyon was the Berros, Sant Pere or Estarón Superior, the Inferior is the natural next step to progress in rope technique in a Pallars environment.

What technical equipment is used on the Estarón Inferior?

High-density wetsuit, wetsuit shoes, CE-certified helmet, technical harness with lanyards, safety carabiners and descender. RocRoi checks all equipment scrupulously before every outing. Participants only need to bring swimwear, a thermal underlayer, sports footwear with a good sole and laces, and a change of footwear.

How long does it take and where is the meeting point?

The activity takes approximately 4 hours in total — 3 hours of actual descent plus transfer by own vehicle and approach. The meeting point is the RocRoi base in Llavorsí (Hort de Rei s/n, C-13 km 140). From there the group travels by own vehicle following the guide's car, and afterwards returns to base to use the showers and changing rooms.

Sant Pere Canyon Llavorsí: abseiling and Romanesque art in the Congost de Collegats

Sant Pere Canyon Llavorsí: abseiling and Romanesque art in the Congost de Collegats

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Sant Pere Canyon is the only canyon in the Pallars Sobirà that begins beneath the ruins of a Romanesque monastery. Tucked into the Congost de Collegats, it combines a 6-metre natural slide, the Conglomerate Corridors and a 10-metre abseil that drops into a cave-shaped pool. Full technical gear, licensed guide and the RocRoi base in Llavorsí with showers at the end.

  • Beginner-to-intermediate level — 10 m vertical abseil
  • From 8 years with an adult — swimming ability required
  • 6 m slide, Cave Abseil and Romanesque monastery

Sant Pere Canyon in the heart of the Congost de Collegats

The Sant Pere Canyon descent begins under a rock overhang: the ruins of the Monastery of Sant Pere de les Maleses, tucked into the wall of the Congost de Collegats, greet the group before anyone steps into the water. It is the only canyon in the Pallars Sobirà that opens with Romanesque heritage, and one of the few Pyrenean descents where rock, water and history can be read simultaneously.

The day begins at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí. The licensed guide hands out the two-piece wetsuit, helmet, harness and wetsuit shoes and explains abseiling technique on dry land before anyone touches the rope. The transfer to the entry point is in your own vehicle following the guide's car (40 minutes), and the approach on foot to the monastery ruins takes one hour: just enough time for the surroundings to start doing their part.

Once in the watercourse, the first major obstacle is the 6-metre Natural Slide, the longest of the route, with an alternative abseil installation if the flow or the group require it. Next come the Conglomerate Corridors, where the walls narrow and the canyon becomes more aesthetic: steps, downclimbs and optional jumps into pools mark the progression. The conglomerate rock changes colour with the light and invites the eye upwards between abseils.

The highlight is the Cave Abseil: a vertical drop of up to 10 metres ending in a pool enclosed under the rock, with the feeling of being inside a cavern. From there the gorge opens into the Bridge Stretch — the modern C-13 bridge above and, hidden in the vegetation, the old stone arch bridge — and finishes with the Chain Passage, the final section equipped with metal rungs that returns the group to the road verge. Back to base in Llavorsí and a hot shower.

What the experience feels like

Families: children from 8 years with an adult enter canyoning through a route with a slide, narrow corridors and a Romanesque monastery literally inside the canyon. The Cave Abseil is the first big abseil for many teenagers.

Couples: an aesthetic descent in the Congost de Collegats with a heritage anchor no other Pallars canyon has: the ruins of Sant Pere de les Maleses. The 10 m vertical abseil inside a cave-pool closes the day with an image all of its own.

Groups of friends: 6-metre slide, optional jumps into pools, Conglomerate Corridors and the Cave Abseil. The natural step after the Berros: no longer the first time, now it is time for verticality.

What is included in the RocRoi experience?

  • Full technical equipment: two-piece wetsuit, CE-certified helmet, harness, wetsuit shoes
  • Flexible Cancellation Policy: Up to 5 days before we give you a full refund; up to 48 hours before you can change the date or switch to an «ADVENTURE voucher».

  • Towel and change of clothes

Practical details – Sant Pere Canyon Llavorsí

Beginner-to-intermediate level: moderate physical effort and a vertical abseil of up to 10 metres. This is not an absolute beginner's activity — it is the natural step after a first easy canyon, designed for those who already want to experience verticality. Swimming ability is mandatory. The approach on foot to the entry point takes one hour.

  • Minimum age: 8 years with a responsible adult / 18 years unaccompanied.
  • Level: Beginner-to-intermediate, moderate physical effort.
  • Total duration: 3 h 30 min (2 h 30 min of actual descent, plus 40 min transfer by own vehicle and 1 h approach on foot).

FAQs

What makes the Sant Pere Canyon special?

It is the only canyon in the Pallars Sobirà that begins beneath the ruins of a Romanesque monastery — the Monastery of Sant Pere de les Maleses, tucked into a rock overhang in the Congost de Collegats. It combines the 6-metre Slide, the Conglomerate Corridors and the Cave Abseil (10 m dropping into a cavern-style pool) in a single 2 h 30 min descent.

What is the difficulty level of the Sant Pere?

Beginner-to-intermediate. It is not the first recommended canyon if you have never done one before: the height of the main abseil (up to 10 m) and the length of the route require good physical fitness and no vertigo. It is the ideal step after a beginner canyon like the Berros, when you want to experience the sensation of a major vertical abseil in the Pyrenees.

Is swimming ability required for the Sant Pere?

Yes, it is essential. Although there are no long swimming sections, there are pools where the water is over your head and you need to move confidently in the water. The two-piece wetsuit helps with buoyancy, but safety begins with feeling comfortable in an aquatic environment.

What equipment does RocRoi provide and what should I bring?

RocRoi provides all the technical equipment: two-piece wetsuit, wetsuit shoes, CE-certified helmet and harness rigged for abseiling. You only need to bring swimwear, a lycra or thermal underlayer and sports footwear with a good sole and laces that can get wet (no flip-flops or open shoes). Also water, sun cream, towel and a change of clothes.

How do I get to the Sant Pere entry point?

The meeting point is the RocRoi base in Llavorsí (Hort de Rei s/n, C-13 km 140). From there the group travels by own vehicle following the guide's car for 40 minutes, then makes a one-hour approach on foot to the monastery ruins, which is the canyon entry point. Transport is not included; if you do not have a vehicle, please contact the company before booking.

The Berrós Canyon is the most booked family descent in the Pallars Sobirà. The reason is straightforward: the riverbed doesn't force — it suggests. The slides are natural, the jumps are always optional and the water level lets children from age 6 descend without a scare.

The activity starts at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí. The team provides a full wetsuit, helmet, canyon shoes and a light harness, and the qualified guide runs the briefing on dry land: positioning on the slides, optional jump technique, safety protocol. Then a short minibus transfer to the start of the descent, inside the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu.

Inside the canyon, the water does the work. The first natural slide launches the group into a turquoise pool where the guide is waiting. Pools are linked by easy walking sections between rock walls, and the jumps — from 1, 2 or 4 metres — are offered but never required. Parents jump if they want; children slide every time. The canyon stays fresh at 14–16 °C all summer and the light that enters through the gorge walls turns every pool into a snapshot.

Back to the Llavorsí base. Hot shower, dry clothes, and the table is already set at a restaurant near the activity centre. Home-cooked Pallars set menu: starter and main to choose, dessert, bread and water. The question 'So where do we eat now?' simply never comes up. The friendliest family day you can book in the Pyrenees closes the way it should: with everyone dry, warm and eating.

What the experience feels like

Families: natural slides that children from age 6 take without blinking, turquoise pools they'd stay in all afternoon and optional jumps for parents who fancy them. Afterwards, a home-cooked lunch at base with no need to drive around looking for a restaurant.

Couples: the friendliest canyon in the Pallars with optional jumps and a long lunch of home-cooked Pyrenean food. A one-day plan with no complicated schedule.

Groups of friends: the plan that works regardless of the group's level, including when not everyone dares to jump.

FAQs

Is this canyon safe for children from age 6?

Yes. The Berrós Canyon is one of the friendliest beginner descents in the Pallars Sobirà: pools with little current, natural slides and always-optional jumps. The qualified guide is inside the canyon with the group and adapts every step to the children's level. It is the first canyon recommended for families.

Are the jumps compulsory?

No. All jumps are optional. There is a downclimb or natural slide alternative at each one. Every participant decides whether to jump or not, and the guide always offers the safest option. The slides are part of the main route and are done by all participants.

What exactly does the home-cooked set menu include?

The menu includes a starter with 2 or 3 choices, a main course with the same variety, dessert, bread and water. It is home-cooked Pallars food prepared daily. Wine and other drinks are not included but can be ordered separately. We cater for vegetarians, allergies and intolerances if notified in advance.

How long is the group inside the canyon?

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes of actual descent in the water. The full day including gear, transfer, descent, return to base, shower and lunch is around 5 hours. It is a complete day designed so you don't have to organise anything else.

Family COMBO Llavorsí: Berrós Canyon and 30 min Kayak on Lake Torrassa

Family COMBO Llavorsí: Berrós Canyon and 30 min Kayak on Lake Torrassa

Llavorsí, Lleida

The Llavorsí Pack links the two most accessible ways of discovering the water of the Pallars Sobirà: an easy canyon with a licensed guide and a shared kayak on Lake Torrassa, within the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu. Suitable from age 6, no prior experience, equipment and insurance included. One booking, two settings, zero logistics.

In the morning, the Berrós Canyon: water, short sections and a guide who handles everything. In the afternoon, 30 minutes paddling on calm water, each family in their own double or triple kayak, stops in the middle of the lake and a return to the jetty at your own pace.

  • 2 activities in the Pallars Sobirà – discovery level from age 6
  • Berrós Canyon with licensed guide
  • 30 min double or triple kayak on Lake Torrassa

The experience — Llavorsí Pack: from the Berrós Canyon to Lake Torrassa

The Llavorsí Pack is designed for families and groups who want a first serious contact with the water of the Pallars Sobirà without complicating the logistics. One booking, two settings, two discovery-level disciplines linked in the same day.

The day starts at the RocRoi centre in Llavorsí. The licensed guide hands out the technical equipment — wetsuit, helmet, harness — and delivers a clear, direct briefing before heading to the start of the Berrós Canyon, a few minutes from the centre. The descent lasts approximately 1h30 real time inside the canyon, with entertaining water sections, simple passages and just the right intensity for a child from age 6 to finish asking to go again. There are no demanding abseils or big jumps; what there is is water, laughter and a genuine first entry in the group's adventure notebook.

After the canyon, a shower at the Llavorsí base and your own transfer to Lake Torrassa, in La Guingueta d'Àneu (15 minutes via the C-13). At the RocRoi base on the lake, the team hands out the chosen kayak — double or triple, depending on the group — paddles, approved buoyancy aids and a quick briefing on the jetty. Thirty minutes of paddling at your own pace on the mirror of Lake Torrassa, within the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu: water with no current, no waves, no boat traffic. Just enough time to cross part of the lake, stop to look at the mountain reflections and return to the jetty with arms that have been put to work.

It is the ideal format for the first day of a family trip to the Pyrenees: an active morning in the canyon, a peaceful afternoon on the water and the feeling of having tried two different disciplines without overloading the children.

What the experience feels like

Families: the gentlest combination the Pallars Sobirà has to offer — beginner canyoning with a licensed guide in the morning and a shared kayak on Lake Torrassa in the afternoon. Parents and children from age 6 on the same plan, with real independence on the Alt Pirineu water for the last 30 minutes.

Couples: first time in a canyon at a relaxed pace plus a double kayak to cross part of Lake Torrassa together. Two different settings of the Pallars Sobirà in the same day, without having to organise anything separately.

Groups of friends: a short, dynamic plan for a beginner weekend in the Pyrenees. An easy canyon to laugh through the first soaking and 30 minutes of double or triple kayak to race to the far shore of Lake Torrassa.

What is included in the RocRoi experience?

  • Activity 1 — Berrós Canyon: descent with licensed guide. Full technical equipment for the canyon: wetsuit, CE-approved helmet, harness, neoprene shoes

FAQs

How is the day organised between the two activities?

The Berrós Canyon is done in the morning from the RocRoi Llavorsí base (approximately 2h30 including equipment, transfer to the canyon start and 1h30 of actual descent). Afterwards, your own transfer to the Lake Torrassa base in La Guingueta d'Àneu — 15 minutes via the C-13 — and 30 minutes of double or triple kayak in the afternoon. The exact kayak time is confirmed with the Torrassa base when booking.

Do you need to travel between the two bases?

Yes. The canyon base is in Llavorsí (C-13, km 140) and the kayak base is in La Guingueta d'Àneu, beside Lake Torrassa. It is 15 minutes by car heading north on the C-13. The transfer is by your own means and both bases have free parking. If you are coming without a car, ask us when you book and we will find an alternative.

From what age can children take part?

The canyon sets the minimum age for the whole pack: 6 years with an adult companion.

What kayak configuration is used for the 30 minutes?

Double or triple kayak depending on group size, chosen at booking. The double is perfect for a couple or an adult with one child; the triple for an adult with two children or a family of three. Use of the approved buoyancy aid is mandatory and included.

Is prior canyoning or kayaking experience required?

No. Both activities are discovery level, with a full briefing and approved equipment. The canyon always has a licensed guide. The kayak at Torrassa is self-guided: the team explains how to board from the jetty, how to paddle and which part of the lake is open for navigation; the group sets off independently on current-free water.

What happens if it rains or the canyon flow gets complicated?

The canyon runs in rain unless there is a safety risk from high flow or a thunderstorm. The kayak at Torrassa can be affected by strong wind. If we cancel on our end, we offer a date change for the pack or an «ADVENTURE voucher».

The experience — Four times inside the river

Day one starts at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí and the Noguera Pallaresa is waiting. The Llavorsí to Rialp rafting is the benchmark descent of the Pallars Sobirà: progressive rapids, qualified guide and gear ready to get into the water with no prior experience. You come out soaked and with the group in sync. But this is just the start. Hydrospeed changes the register completely. You are no longer inside a raft: the board is pressed against your body, fins on your feet, and the Noguera Pallaresa decides how hard it pushes. The first kilometres are for reading the current from the inside. Then La Lavadora — class IV — arrives and decisions need making. The guide accompanies from a kayak, marking the line. The run ends at La Moleta, beside the mouth of the River Romadriu. Forty-five minutes that are felt in every muscle. But the most intense day is the Barranc de l'Infern. Thirty minutes' approach crossing the Noguera Pallaresa, then the canyon receives you: walls hemmed into the Congost de Collegats, limestone polished by water, abseils of 9, 22, 11 and 7 metres. There are natural slides. There is a cave halfway through where the light enters in a way you don't forget. And at the end the canyon spits you straight back into the Noguera Pallaresa. The Kayak Introduction closes the pack in another language. Individual kayak, guide alongside, paddle technique and current reading on the same river you have already descended two different ways. Here the goal is not speed — it is understanding the water from inside your own craft. Four activities. Four ways for the Noguera Pallaresa to remind you who is in charge.

What the experience feels like

Couples: a shared challenge where coordination matters: rafting with real rapids, hydrospeed at water level and a technical canyon with abseils up to 22 metres. Real intensity, no overacting.
Groups of friends: the pack that needs no explanation when you say you went to the Pallars Sobirà. Hydrospeed, Barranc de l'Infern, rafting and kayak: each day with a different level of adrenaline.

FAQs

What is the minimum age for the full pack?
The pack's minimum age is set by the hydrospeed and the Barranc de l'Infern: 12 in summer, always with a responsible adult. The Barranc de l'Infern rises to 15 with an accompanying adult in spring due to higher flow. If the group has mixed ages, let us know when booking and we will find the best combination.
Is previous canyoning or white-water experience needed?
Not for the base activities (rafting, hydrospeed, kayak introduction): the guides explain everything before entering the water. For the Barranc de l'Infern it is recommended to have done a beginner-level canyon beforehand, as it is a continuous technical route with abseils up to 22 metres.
What sets the Barranc de l'Infern apart from beginner canyoning?
The Barranc de l'Infern has abseils up to 22 metres, continuous narrow passages, natural slides and a spectacular cave halfway through. It is intermediate-to-advanced canyoning, very different from a level 1 canyon. In spring it rises a grade due to flow.
Is hydrospeed harder than rafting?
Yes, it is more active. In rafting you ride inside the raft and the group coordinates the paddles. In hydrospeed the board is pressed against your body, fins on, and you participate directly in every metre of the descent. La Lavadora (class IV) is the most technical rapid on the run. Always accompanied by an expert guide from a kayak.
Can participants of different ages be mixed in the same pack?
Yes. The usual approach for mixed groups is to adapt which activities each sub-group does by age. The RocRoi team helps organise the schedule when booking so no member of the group misses out.
