Big SUP
The big SUP is the abbreviation for Stand Up Paddle Surf in large format. It is a sport, affordable, easy and fun. This is a complete sport, with great benefits for the musculoskeletal system and the organic and cardiovascular system, being able to work aerobically and anaerobically. This activity requires group coordination and teamwork. The tables are for collective and recreational use. The Big SUP is not just a sport, it is a way of walking, a way of enjoying the sea and friends, it is a fantastic way to get into sea caves and enjoy the outdoors.

Big SUP Hire in Vilanova i la Geltrú — Garraf Natural Park
Vilanova i la Geltrú, Barcelona
Some activities are best enjoyed alone, and some only make sense in a group. Big SUP is firmly in the second category. One board, several paddles and a shared goal: moving together across the Mediterranean without anyone falling in (though the laughter is guaranteed).
From Ribes Roges beach, with the cliffs of the Garraf Natural Park as a backdrop, Big SUP turns any gathering — family, friends, colleagues — into a team. No prior experience needed. Just the desire to paddle, coordinate and have a great time on one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline near Barcelona.
- Discovery level: suitable for everyone, no prior experience needed
- Up to 10 people on the same board: the most group-friendly experience in Garraf

The Big SUP experience on the Garraf Coast
Group coordination on the water sounds simple — until you are standing on a board with nine other people and the first out-of-sync paddle stroke triggers a domino effect of laughter, wobbles and splashes. That moment — precisely that one — is the start of something not easily forgotten. The activity begins at the RocRoi base at Ribes Roges, where the team sets up the kit and runs through the safety and coordination briefing. Unlike individual SUP, Big SUP requires no prior balance: the giant board is extraordinarily stable and lets anyone climb on without nerves from the very first minute.
With one hour, the group explores Ribes Roges bay, learns to synchronise paddles and enjoys a first encounter with the sea from a unique perspective. With two hours, the adventure extends along the Garraf Natural Park coastline: limestone cliffs seen from the water, posidonia meadows and the feeling of gliding through a protected environment just 50 kilometres from Barcelona.
Big SUP creates a group dynamic that few activities can match: communication is essential, coordination becomes a game and the result — moving together across the Mediterranean — is a shared satisfaction that comes naturally, effortlessly.
What the experience feels like
Families: children paddle side by side with adults, everyone on the same board, everyone on the same team. An adventure that brings generations together from the very first stroke.
Groups of friends: coordination, laughter, small challenges and that inevitable moment when someone loses the rhythm and takes half the group with them. The kind of memory you talk about for years.

FAQs
How many people can get on the Big SUP board?
Our giant boards hold between 4 and 10 people. It is the perfect activity for groups who want to stay together: families, groups of friends, hen and stag parties or corporate teams. The platform is so stable that even those who struggle with balance on an individual SUP feel confident from the very first moment.
Do we need prior experience to handle such a large board?
No. Big SUP is a Discovery level — the most accessible in the RocRoi catalogue. The team will give you the basic safety and synchronisation instructions before you head out. Fun and teamwork come first, way above any individual technique.
What is the difference between hiring the Big SUP for 1 hour or 2 hours?
The main difference is how far your adventure goes. With 1 hour you have plenty of time to have fun and paddle around Vilanova bay — ideal for groups looking for laughs and games close to shore. With 2 hours the experience becomes a proper voyage: you can leave the bay and head towards landmarks like the Pasífae sculpture or set a course south towards Cubelles.
Is it a good corporate team-building activity?
One of the best. A single board for the whole group forces everyone to communicate and share the pace: without coordination there is no progress. It builds cohesion, generates laughter and creates a shared memory that strengthens the team. Perfect as a closing activity before enjoying Vilanova's harbour.
What equipment is included in the price?
The hire includes the Big SUP board, one adjustable paddle per participant and mandatory buoyancy aids for everyone. You also have access to lockers, changing rooms and showers at the Vilanova i la Geltrú nautical base.
