The experience — Paddleboarding Route along the Maro Cliffs

The Nerja coastline looks different from a board. The Maro Cliffs drop sheer into the Mediterranean, caves open at water level and hidden coves appear between the limestone walls. The paddle sets the rhythm: no engine, no large group, just the sound of the water as you cut through it.

The activity starts at the activity centre on Burriana Beach, Nerja. The licensed instructor hands out the board, paddle and buoyancy aid and delivers technical instruction before entering the water: paddling position, how to keep your balance and what to do if you fall. The basic technique takes just a few minutes to learn.

The route follows the Paraje Natural de los Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo. It enters the sea caves hidden within this protected area and, when sea conditions are right, approaches the Maro Waterfall. Halfway through, a swimming stop — ideal for snorkelling if you bring your own mask.

At the end, the return to Burriana Beach. The free digital photo report documents the day and arrives in your inbox. An hour and a half on the water that changes the way you see this stretch of coast.
