Llavorsí–Montardit rafting with lunch | Half day Noguera Pallaresa

View photos

Some descents treat lunch as an extra, and others make it the finish the day was asking for. Llavorsí–Montardit is the second kind. No logistics, no “where do we eat now?” question.

Roughly 2h30 of real class III-IV rapids, the best-known names on the Pallars stretch in order, and a homemade lunch with local produce on the bank of the Noguera Pallaresa.

  • Technical level 2: class III-IV rapids from age 12 with an accompanying adult
  • Homemade set menu: starter + main + dessert + bread + water

The experience — Llavorsí–Montardit rafting with lunch in Pallars

Rafting on the Noguera Pallaresa with lunch in Montardit works because the river decides the ending.

The activity starts at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí. Technical gear, a briefing from your qualified guide, and then down to the embarkation point. The first kilometres are the warm-up: class III rapids that already demand coordination, schist walls and riverside woodland. The river builds momentum before showing the character it is known for across Europe.

Then come the famous names. La Lavadora opens the second section with a rapid that fills the raft with water. Cuatro Largo links technical bends where the guide calls for coordinated paddling. We reach the playful section in Sort, the capital of Catalan rafting, with its slalom course where Canoe World Cup events are held. It is the most photographed stretch in Pallars Sobirà and the one most often booked by groups who have rafted before and want something more technical.

The raft leaves the water right where the river passes Camping Montardit. We return to Llavorsí in our transport, and the table is waiting there. A homemade Pallars set menu: starter and main to choose from, dessert, bread and water, with the river still in view. The day ends the way good plans do: adrenaline still in your body and proper food on the plate.

What the experience feels like

Families: For families with children aged 12 and over who have already tried the easier rafting trip and now want the technical section.

Couples: The technical descent shared by couples who already know what a rapid feels like. Cuatro Largo and a laid table in Montardit, in that order, make the plan you will talk about on the way home.

Groups of friends: 2h30 of forced coordination, the Noguera Pallaresa rapids mentioned in every Pyrenees guidebook, and homemade Pallars food by the river. The kind of plan people book a month in advance and nobody cancels.

Practical details

Adventure with a technical class III-IV section. Your qualified guide adapts the pace and teaches the technique before the most demanding rapids. This is the recommended stretch for clients who have rafted before or who want more adrenaline than the Rialp descent.

  • Minimum age without an accompanying adult: 18 years
  • Minimum age with an accompanying adult: 12 years
  • Total duration: approximately 5 hours (descent + lunch + transfers)
  • Actual river time: approximately 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Fitness level: you must be able to swim; mobility and stamina are needed for coordinated paddling.
  • Limitations: not recommended for pregnant women or people with heart or back conditions; tell the guide about any allergy, phobia or physical limitation before starting
  • Mindset: Come ready to paddle properly and stay for lunch by the river. The difference between a descent and a full day out is on the table.

FAQs

How is this section different from the Llavorsí–Rialp rafting trip?

The Llavorsí–Montardit section is longer (2h30 vs 1h30) and more technically demanding, with class III-IV rapids that require more coordination. That is why the minimum age is 12 with an accompanying adult (vs 6 in Rialp). It is the recommended descent if you have rafted before or want more adrenaline.

What exactly is included in the homemade set menu at Camping Montardit?

The menu includes a starter with 2 or 3 options, a main course with the same variety, dessert, bread and water. It is homemade food prepared daily with produce from Pallars. Wine and other drinks are not included in this service; they can be ordered separately directly at the campsite.

Is there a vegetarian option or menus adapted for allergies?

Yes. Tell us when booking or on arrival about any allergy, intolerance or preference (vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free) and we will adapt the day menu options. It is important to let us know in advance.

How long does the full half-day trip last?

The day lasts about 5 hours in total: briefing and kit-up, 2h30 of actual descent from Llavorsí to Montardit, return transport to the base and lunch. It starts in the late morning and finishes in the mid-afternoon.
