The experience — a canyon you cross by paddling
The Baén to Collegats stretch runs through the pre-Pyrenean sector of the Noguera Pallaresa, where the landscape gradually shifts from open riverbank to canyon. The water flows between poplars and willows with the calm of a river that knows where it's going, and the bearded vulture often soars over the limestone walls that frame the route.
The activity starts at the RocRoi base in Llavorsí. The team hands out the technical gear and the guide gives a clear briefing before taking the group to the launch point in Baén. The explanation is practical and direct: paddling technique, position in the raft and safety protocol, so everyone gets on the water with confidence from the first moment.
The descent progresses gradually along the route. The class I-II rapids are accessible for participants from age 6, with enough momentum to keep the group's excitement up. The guide sets the pace, suggests manoeuvres and creates the right pauses to take in the surroundings.
The climax of the descent comes at the end: the river narrows into the Collegats Gorge and the Argenteria appears before the group like a cathedral of rock. This geological formation, made of Triassic limestone, is one of the most photographed features of the Orígens Geopark. It's the natural monument said to have inspired Gaudí's design for the Sagrada Família.
Return transport to the base is included at the end.

FAQs
Is the Baén-Collegats stretch safe for young children?
Yes. The stretch is classified as Grade II-III, designed for family beginners. The current is accessible from age 6 and RocRoi's guides specialise in family groups, always prioritising raft stability and the wellbeing of children.
What technical gear is provided to ensure safety?
High-end wetsuits with thermal reinforcement, high-buoyancy life vests specifically sized for children's weight, and certified helmets. All equipment follows strict controls under Catalonia's Active Tourism regulations.
How is this stretch different from the Llavorsí-La Moleta family rafting?
The La Moleta stretch is shorter (45 minutes on the water) and geared towards young children's first contact with the river. This route is longer (2 hours), includes the Collegats Gorge and the Argenteria, and is ideal for families looking for a fuller activity with more scenery.
What happens if the Noguera Pallaresa's flow is very high?
The RocRoi team monitors the flow managed by the hydroelectric plants every day. If conditions exceed safety standards for families, the activity is rescheduled or the stretch is adapted. The group's safety always comes before the booking.
What should we bring on the day of the activity?
Swimsuit, towel and footwear that can get wet. Full logistics — return transport, technical gear and insurance — are included. Just show up at the Llavorsí base ready for the river.
