Is paddleboarding on the canal safe for people who have never stood on a board?
It is one of the safest environments in the Pyrenees to start. The artificial canal has no swell, no currents and no other users causing interference. A buoyancy aid is included. Falls into the water are common and completely safe: the water is calm and the bank is always close.
From what age can children paddleboard?
From age 6, with no adult companion required on the board. The flat-water canal has no currents that could carry children away. It is recommended that under-16s are able to float as a precaution.
What is the difference between paddleboarding and kayak hire on the same canal?
Kayaking is done seated, paddling with a double-bladed paddle, and is more stable for groups with very young children from age 3. Paddleboarding is done standing, with a single-blade paddle, and has a stronger balance and fitness element. Both take place on the same flat-water canal. Kayaking is the more family-friendly option; paddleboarding is more individual and balance-focused.
Does the hire include accident insurance?
Paddleboard hire includes civil liability insurance. Personal accident insurance is not included. For greater coverage, the guided activities at the Parc Olímpic del Segre — rafting, hydrospeed and open kayak — include accident insurance as well as civil liability insurance.
