Itinerary

The Canyoning Las Chorreras del Cabriel experience

Canyoning at Las Chorreras del Cabriel is not a technical descent: it is a water route. The site is in Enguídanos, where the river has spent millennia sculpting pools, jumps and natural slides into limestone and tufa rock. No ropes. One hundred per cent water.

The activity starts at the Albergue Hoces del Cabriel in Venta del Moro. The team hands out wetsuit, suitable footwear and a certified helmet, and the qualified guide gives a clear briefing before heading to the canyon. The approach is short and the group enters the riverbed ready for what’s ahead: nothing technical, everything sensory.

The route moves between limestone tufa formations and turquoise water of extreme purity. The polished stone natural slides work on their own. The pools invite you in to swim between the walls. There are jumps — small, optional — and if anyone hesitates, the guides, who know every stone of this canyon, show the easy way down. The Cabriel is officially one of the three cleanest and best-preserved rivers in Europe: the water feels different from the very first pool.

The session ends after three hours of laughter, at the final pool of the route, with the photo report already in the guide’s camera. Las Chorreras del Cabriel is not something you describe. You get wet in it.
