FAQs
Is it hard to keep your balance on the board?
No. The boards are wide and stable, designed for beginners. The qualified guide spends the first minutes on body position and basic technique: how to kneel to start and how to stand up. Most people find their confidence within the first 100 metres.
Will I get very wet?
A tumble is likely, especially when standing up for the first time. But the water on the middle reaches of the Cabriel is clear and clean, so any fall feels more like a voluntary swim than a scare.
From what age can teenagers take part?
From age 14 with an adult companion. It is a beginner route on calm water, ideal for a first experience of stand-up paddle without the challenges of SUP on open sea.
What is the difference from paddleboarding at sea?
River SUP is done on calm water with no swell or undertow. The board moves at your pace and the feeling of stability is greater. The Cabriel is also crystal clear — you can see the riverbed, which you cannot do at sea.
What equipment is included and what do I need to bring?
RocRoi provides a SUP board, paddle, buoyancy aid and wetsuit if needed. You need to bring swimwear, a towel, a change of clothes for afterwards and footwear that can get wet (flip-flops not permitted).
