FAQs
What is included in the guided kayak descent on the Tagus?
The price includes technical gear (kayak, paddle and buoyancy aid), custom-fit wetsuit (on request 48 hours before with height and weight), a qualified guide throughout the route, accident and civil liability insurance, transport from the meeting point and back, use of changing rooms and a space in the exclusive car park.
Is this descent safe if I’ve never paddled a kayak before?
Yes. The activity is Level 2 Beginner, designed specifically for first-timers. The guide explains basic paddling and steering technique on dry land before launching and stays with the group in the water throughout the route. The Tagus stretch is flat calm with no technical rapids, and is suitable from age 5 with an adult.
How does the custom wetsuit work and why request it 48 hours before?
The wetsuit is included in the price but requires a size reservation 48 hours before the activity. When confirming your booking, provide approximate height and weight for each participant. Without this prior request, size availability on the day cannot be guaranteed. A wetsuit is particularly recommended in cooler seasons or if the group plans to swim during the route.
Where exactly is the meeting point and how do I get there?
The meeting point is El Colvillo – Complejo de Turismo Rural, Instituto Leprológico, 19450 Trillo (Guadalajara). From the centre you access the complex, the team hands out gear and a short transfer takes you to the river put-in. The connection from Madrid is approximately one hour via the A-2 and local roads.
How does the guided descent differ from the self-guided Tagus descent?
The guided descent includes a qualified guide in the water throughout the route and a custom wetsuit in the price. The self-guided descent is unaccompanied, with a free dry barrel and a return transfer for the driver. The guided option is recommended if you have no paddling experience or are going with young children.
