Family Rafting on the Río Gállego: adventure with kids

Some activities are enjoyable. Others are unforgettable. Family rafting on the Gállego is firmly in the second category: two hours paddling together between 300-metre conglomerate walls, with griffon vultures gliding overhead and the sound of clean Pyrenean water setting the pace.
The route is designed so that nobody gets left behind. The guide adapts the intensity and navigation lines to each group, the most technical sections are managed with direct support, and the outcome is the same for everyone: soaked, flushed and asking to go again.
- Exclusive family groups: no mixing with other profiles
- From age 8 — adapted descent, bypassing the El Embudo rapid
- 2 hours on the water, 3 hours total including logistics
📍 Meeting point: Base UR Pirineos | RocRoi, Carretera A132 – km 38, 22808 Murillo de Gállego, Huesca, Spain – View on map · 31 min from Huesca and 44 min from Zaragoza via the A-132.

FAQs
Is rafting safe for young children?
Yes, provided they can swim and feel comfortable in the water. The family section is Grade II-III, with gentle rapids and calm-water stretches. Life jackets are CE-certified and high-buoyancy. Technical sections are managed on foot with direct guide support.
From what age can children take part?
From age 8, always subject to water flow on the day and safety equipment fitting correctly (recommended minimum height: 110–120 cm). It is the ideal first introduction to whitewater in a controlled and motivating environment.
Will we be mixed with non-family groups?
No. Family rafting groups descend exclusively with other families. The guide adapts the pace, navigation lines and stops to the group’s profile from the very start.
What is the difference between this and RocRoi’s intermediate rafting on the same river?
The family rafting bypasses the El Embudo rapid — the most technical section of the route — and adapts the intensity for groups with children. The intermediate level is aimed at adults and young people from age 14 who are looking for more adrenaline. If you are unsure which option suits your group best, get in touch with us before booking.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
Light rain does not cancel rafting. If water levels exceed the safety limits for families or there is an electrical storm, the activity is postponed with a free date change or full refund. The safety of the group — especially the youngest members — is the absolute priority.
