View photos
Some canyons are for learning and some are for conquering. The Aján Integral is the latter: three hours stringing together natural slides, jumps and abseils under waterfalls in a young sandstone-and-polished-limestone canyon.
The crossing covers the headwaters of the Aján in the heart of Vega de Pas, between pasiego cabins and steep drops, down to the Salto del Oso that closes the canyon right at the car park.
- Level 3 — Adventure · from age 14 with an accompanying adult
- Natural slides, jumps and abseils · 3 hours in the canyon
- Changing rooms, showers and hot water at the end · photo report

What the experience feels like
Families: the Aján Integral is the next stop for families who grew up with canyons. Teenagers from age fourteen discover abseils, big jumps and the full crossing that the Aján Family left unfinished. Vega de Pas seen from inside the canyon.
Couples: three hours in a sandstone-and-limestone canyon with the full canyoning catalogue in a single crossing: natural slides, jumps and abseils under waterfalls. A shared adventure that ends with hot changing rooms and pasiego gastronomy waiting at the exit.
Groups of friends: celebrations, birthdays and events that deserve Cantabria’s most complete canyon. Three hours of adrenaline, technique and fun the group will remember — and a Salto del Oso that rarely plays out the same for everyone.

Practical details
The Aján Integral is the technical version of the canyon: three hours in the water with natural slides, jumps and abseils linked together. The activity requires moderate fitness, confidence swimming and willingness to handle the rope on the abseils. For rope-free descents from age 5 we recommend the Aján Family (Level 2 — Beginner) in the same canyon.
- Minimum age unaccompanied: 18
- Minimum age with an accompanying adult: 14
- Total duration: 4 hours (gear, briefing, descent and changing rooms)
- Actual time in the canyon: 3 hours
- Best season: May to September
- Fitness: moderate. Swimming ability is compulsory. Not suitable for pregnant women, heart conditions or other serious medical issues. Not recommended for anyone with a fear of heights on the abseil.
- Attitude: willingness to get wet, attention to the technical briefing and readiness to read the canyon with the guide.

FAQs
What is the difference between the Aján Family and the Aján Integral?
The Family is Level 2, 2 h in the water, no abseils, from age 5 with an accompanying adult. The Integral is Level 3, 3 h in the water, with abseils under waterfalls and the full crossing to the Salto del Oso, from age 14 with an accompanying adult. Same canyon, different technical commitment.
Do I need previous experience?
Not essential, but it helps. The abseil technique is taught in the briefing and practised before the first vertical obstacle. What we do ask for is good fitness, confidence swimming and no fear of heights on the abseil: there are vertical sections on rope.
What is the minimum age?
14 with an accompanying adult, 18 unaccompanied. For rope-free descents from age 5 we recommend the Aján Family (Level 2 — Beginner) in the same Vega de Pas setting.
What if it rains or the river is low?
The team assesses the Aján flow daily. If river or weather conditions are not suitable, we offer a free date change or a full refund. Safety always comes first on a technical descent with abseils.
Are there showers at the end?
Yes. The Vega de Pas base has changing rooms, showers and hot water, included in the price. The canyon ends at the car park at the Salto del Oso, so the day closes directly with no return approach needed.
