Itinerary

The Venta del Moro via ferrata experience

The Venta del Moro via ferrata runs along the limestone walls framing the Hoces del Cabriel. It is a K3-grade route, secured by a continuous steel cable safety line with iron rungs fixed into the rock. No prior technical requirements. Just your head, your hands and your boots.

The activity starts at the Albergue Hoces del Cabriel in Venta del Moro. The team hands out helmet, harness and via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber, and the qualified guide spends the first few minutes on the technical briefing: how to clip in, how to change cable sections, how to place your foot on the rung. Then a short approach walk to the start of the route.

The route climbs the wall in successive sections. Well-positioned rungs, steel cable always within reach, views opening up over the Cabriel basin with every step. The K3 grade is demanding without being technical: trust the system, clip in properly and keep your feet moving. The landscape of rocky ridges and Mediterranean scrubland shifts the mood every few metres.

The climax comes at the Tibetan bridge. That is where the heart beats hardest as the ground disappears below your boots. And once you have crossed it, what remains is the feeling of having conquered the wall.

Who can perform this activity

FAQs

What grade is the Venta del Moro via ferrata?

It is K3 grade, a beginner-to-intermediate route that combines vertical sections with a Tibetan bridge. The official scale runs from K1 (very easy) to K6 (extreme). K3 is physically demanding but accessible with no prior climbing or via ferrata experience.

Do I need arm strength or climbing experience?

No. The route is secured by a continuous safety line and the iron rungs distribute effort between arms and legs, like climbing a vertical ladder. No climbing technique required. The qualified guide gives the briefing before you start.

From what age can children take part?

From age 8 with an adult. It is one of the most accessible via ferratas for introducing children to vertical terrain: the rungs are within reach and the adult can follow right behind, supervising every clip.

What if I have vertigo?

A certain amount of respect is perfectly normal, especially on the Tibetan bridge. If vertigo is severe, this activity is not recommended. If it is moderate, the qualified guide accompanies you at the most exposed points and teaches you to focus on the wall rather than the drop.

What equipment is included and what do I need to bring?

RocRoi provides helmet, harness and via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber. You need to bring sports shoes with a good sole or hiking boots (no flip-flops) and appropriate sports clothing for the weather.
