This beginner stretch from Jánovas is the gateway to that river: class II–III rapids, green pools that no reservoir has ever tamed, and the feeling that nature here has not been corrected.

No. This beginner stretch is designed for first-timers: class II–III rapids with enough excitement to make the descent feel real, and enough accessibility for anyone entering the water for the first time to come out wanting more. The pre-activity briefing and constant guide presence guarantee safety throughout.

The Ara is the only large-volume river in the Pyrenees with no dams or reservoirs along its entire course. What flows through its waters comes directly from snowmelt at the summits — unregulated by humans, without turbines, without the artificial level of a reservoir. This makes its flow powerful in spring and its water exceptionally pure and cold.
What technical equipment is provided?
The price includes everything you need: full wetsuit, neoprene shoes, approved helmet, high-buoyancy buoyancy aid, cagoule and paddle. You only need to bring swimwear and a change of clothes.
Can families with children take part?
Yes, with an adult present. The minimum age with a companion is 4 years. The beginner stretch has gentle rapids and a guide who adapts the pace to the group.
