What the experience feels like
Families: A three-day expedition with teenagers is a different format from an afternoon activity. The river sets the pace, the logistics are simple — the cars stay in Benifallet from day one — and reaching the Mediterranean together by paddle is the kind of experience you remember thirty years later.
Couples: Three days without screens, without a schedule and with the river as the only plan. The Ebro kayak descent is slow enough to talk and demanding enough for the achievement to show at the end. First night in Benifallet, second beside the Ebro in Tortosa.
Groups of friends: The self-guided expedition works well in a group because everyone has their own kayak and the group sets the pace. The challenge is to pace your energy on the first stage, the longest at 38 km. Those who reach Riumar always say the same thing: they need to do it again.

Level 3 — Adventure: requires physical stamina for sustained effort and a sporting habit. Days involve 5 to 6 hours of paddling; pacing your energy from the first stage (the longest) is key to reaching the sea.
- Minimum age unaccompanied: 18.
- Minimum age with an accompanying adult: 14.
- Total duration: 3 days / 2 nights (approx. 5–6 hours on the water per day depending on flow and wind).
- Total distance: ~104 km (etapa 1: 38 km · etapa 2: 30 km · etapa 3: 36 km).
- Minimum participants: 2 people.
- Fitness: Previous kayaking experience recommended. Swimming ability essential. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility or serious health conditions. Inform the operator of any allergies or limitations before the activity.
- Attitude: Independence, expedition mindset and the ability to pace yourself. The river does the rest.

What fitness level and experience are needed for the Ebro kayak descent?
Reasonable fitness and previous kayaking experience are recommended. Days involve 5 to 6 hours of paddling and the expedition is self-guided: there is no instructor to adjust the pace. The Tempo kayak is stable and self-bailing, but the physical demand is real. Not suitable for people with reduced mobility or serious health conditions.
Is previous kayaking experience necessary for the expedition?
Recommended. The days are long and the independence is total. Anyone with basic paddling knowledge and good fitness will adapt well. If in doubt, get in touch before booking.
Where do you leave the cars and how does the return transport work?
Vehicles stay parked in Benifallet for the 3 days. The operator transfers you from there to Ascó for the first stage. On completing the expedition in Riumar, the pick-up service returns you to Benifallet to collect the cars. On the first night you can access them, as the stage ends in Benifallet.
Where do you sleep during the expedition? Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included. The first night is in Benifallet, beside the river. The second night is in the enclosed grounds of the Club de Rem in Tortosa. Participants must bring their own camping gear (tent, sleeping bag, mat). Food and drink are also the participant’s responsibility; there are towns every few hours to resupply.
What happens if something unexpected comes up during the expedition?
We are an operator committed to safety. The package includes incident assistance and an active emergency contact throughout the expedition. The stages pass close to towns (Móra, Miravet, Xerta, Tortosa, Amposta) where you can resupply or seek help. All participants must carry a charged mobile phone.
