FAQs
Can I bring my dog on the self-guided kayak on the Guadiela?
Yes. Dogs up to 20 kg travel free. Over 20 kg they pay the equivalent of a child’s place. No buoyancy aids are provided for dogs: this is the owner’s responsibility. Note it in “comments and requests” when booking. Standard rules of coexistence apply at swimming areas and banks.
What happens if I arrive late at the kayak hire meeting point?
The team allows a 5–10 minute courtesy window. Beyond that, call 671 96 98 46 and follow instructions, as signal in the canyon is unreliable. Time lost is deducted from the hire without changing the return time. In cases of significant delay, the booking may be forfeited without refund or rebooking.
Can I bring food or drink on the self-guided kayak?
Yes. We provide a free dry barrel to store food, drink and dry personal items. All waste must come back with you at the end of the descent and be deposited in a bin; zero litter in the natural environment. Swimming in the reservoir is permitted with the buoyancy aid on at all times.
Is self-guided hire on the Guadiela safe with no guide if I’ve never paddled before?
Yes. The hire stretch is calm water with no technical rapids. The kayak is stable and beginner-friendly, and the team explains the basic rules and canyon landmarks before you launch. If you want more safety support or want to learn technique, the centre recommends the guided route with a guide in the water.
How does self-guided hire differ from the guided kayak route on the Guadiela?
Self-guided hire is Level 1 Discovery, unaccompanied with no guide in the water, focused on freedom of pace, picnicking and pets. The guided route is Level 2 Beginner with a qualified guide throughout the entire route and an interpretive focus on the canyon. Same location, two different experiences.
