In a rafting raft you are a passenger. In a hard-shell canoe you are the helm. The polyethylene hull glides over the Gállego with an immediacy no inflatable can replicate: every paddle stroke translates into real movement, every rapid demands your own decision.
- Beginner level: no prior technical experience, suitable from 8 years with an adult
- Hard-shell canoe: real hydrodynamics, faster and more manoeuvrable than inflatables
- Unique setting: Gállego river in the Kingdom of the Mallos, declared Natural Monument

What the experience feels like
Families: the hard-shell canoe turns children from 8 years into genuine paddlers, not passengers. The instructor accompanies every step and the Mallos de Riglos provide the backdrop for a day in which the little ones take the helm for the first time.
Couples: individual or double descent at a shared pace. The same river always, and the freedom to choose your own water line without depending on others.
Groups of friends: unspoken competition and guaranteed laughter. Who reads the rapid best, who reaches the pool first, who capsizes first.

FAQs
What advantage does a hard-shell canoe have over an inflatable raft?
The key difference is hydrodynamics. The polyethylene hull glides with precision: the canoe is faster, more manoeuvrable and directly conveys the character of the river. In an inflatable the water bounces; in a hard-shell canoe, you feel it with every paddle stroke.
Is prior canoe or kayak experience required?
No. The descent is classed as Beginner level and the instructor explains everything on land before entering the water. The Gállego’s class II rapids are accessible from the first attempts for any participant from 8 years who can swim.
How does this descent differ from rafting on the Gállego?
In rafting, the group shares a raft and the guide directs the paddling. In the hard-shell canoe each participant steers their own craft. More autonomy, more technique and a direct relationship with the water — the natural next step for those who have done rafting and want to take the helm.
Are transport and showers included?
Yes. Transport from the UR Pirineos I RocRoi base to the put-in and return are included. The base’s changing rooms and showers are available at the end of the activity.
