What the experience feels like
Families: triple or quadruple canoe with the children in the middle and the adults at each end. The open hull lets you bring rucksacks and sandwiches on board, and the child sits facing you — no need to turn round.
Couples: double canoe with room inside for a picnic. Stop to eat in the middle of Lake Torrassa without getting out of the boat — something impossible in a closed kayak.
Groups of friends: quadruple canoe so all four paddle at the same speed with normal conversation. The silence of the Pallars Sobirà comes along for the ride; the expedition feel is captured in the group photo.

FAQs
What is the difference between a Canadian canoe and a kayak?
A Canadian canoe is an open craft, wider and with interior space to carry rucksacks or a picnic inside. A kayak is closed, narrower and sportier. For groups with small children or picnic plans, the Canadian canoe is usually the most comfortable option.
Can a small child ride in the canoe?
Yes. From age 4, provided they are in the same canoe as a responsible adult. The open hull lets the child sit comfortably with space around them, and a compulsory certified buoyancy aid is included.
Can we bring a picnic or rucksack inside the canoe?
Yes. It is one of the big advantages of the open canoe over a kayak: the interior space takes rucksacks, dry bags or a full picnic. We recommend a dry bag if you are carrying items that must stay dry.
Which canoe configuration should I choose for my group?
Double canoe for couples or one adult with a child. Triple for families with a child in the middle and two adults at the ends. Quadruple for groups of 4. We do not have a single canoe — if you are travelling alone, the recommended option is the individual kayak at the same base.
Is it difficult to handle a Canadian canoe?
Not if the group coordinates. The initial briefing explains how to paddle, how to steer from the stern and how to distribute weight. The craft is wider and more stable than a kayak, which is more forgiving of beginner mistakes.
