Half an hour from Barcelona, discover Vilanova
Just 40 kilometres from Barcelona and halfway to Tarragona is the nautical and maritime activity centre of Vilanova i la Geltrú, located next to the Moll de Ponent next to the marina on the Ribes Roges beach. This enclave on the Costa del Garraf belongs to one of our bases. It is the only one of our centres that is open all year round and has contributed to making RoicRoi one of the leading companies in southern Europe in the organisation of outdoor sports experiences.
On the beach of Vilanova i la Geltrú you will find our leisure and sports centre, which welcomes clients for most of the year. The centre’s different facilities include a 200 square metre building where you will find our headquarters, with all the services you need to enjoy a day of water sports in the Mediterranean Sea: equipment for paddle surfing, sea kayaking, skateboarding or volleyball, changing rooms for clients and instructors and the Ribes Roges nautical base, located 100 metres from the shore of the beach with a surface area of 1,000 square metres.
Our manager in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Àngel Panicello, assures us that “we are in an exclusive location. Many people come from Barcelona because they have everything there, but here you are also guaranteed peace and quiet and we are the only RocRoi centre that is open all season”.
Paddle surfing and kayaking in Vilanova, the most demanded outdoor sports experiences
Among the activities we offer on the Garraf coast are kayaking expeditions, Big SUP outings, sailing or catamaran excursions, windsurfing and rollerblading. “The kayak trips usually last between two and three hours, while the Big SUP is usually an hour at the most”, says the manager. In fact, Standup Paddle (SUP), paddle surfing and paddle boarding are three of the activities that have been booming in recent years
It is common to see tourists visiting Barcelona opting for Vilanova i la Geltrú to spend a day at the beach. Among them are also international students who, taking advantage of the end of the academic year, opt for this town to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In our base they find a wide availability of equipment, a wide range of outdoor activities in the sea and much more space to enjoy them compared to the beaches of Barcelona.
In addition to these disciplines, we offer the possibility of spending the day at the beach carrying out all kinds of activities for companies, known as beach day. The company offers these packs of unique experiences in a natural environment combined with a meal at La Daurada Restaurant.
The options are very varied depending on the demands made by our clients and the difficulty required to carry them out. However, it is not only about sporting activities, but also allows visitors to experience high quality tourist and gastronomic services in the area from establishments with which we are associated.
This symbiosis between adventure sports and services is at its best when visitors can try a rice menu on the beach after a morning kayaking expedition along the beaches of the area, for example. This is one of the most popular options in the center for large groups that visit us, either to celebrate bachelor parties or team building days hired by companies.
“We make products with La Daurada Restaurant in which we offer activities and they offer catering,” says Àngel Panicello. Groups have access to a chill-out area with hammocks, music, space for volleyball, paddle surfing and raid, which is a combination of competitive guided activities. The goal? To spend a fun and sporty day in the Mediterranean.
