Ready for the holidays? Have you made your bags? Are you sure you put everything you need in it? Any chance you might have missed anything?
In any case, we are here to help you build the definitive list of things to take with you for a
complete holiday season with your family without forgetting anything.
Whether you travel with your family, your significant other or your friends, the first thing you should add to your luggage is sun protection. Protecting your skin from the sun is the most important thing you must be aware of during sunny hours and when you’re outdoors.
On the other hand, not to miss any opportunity to dip into beaches, lakes, rivers or pools, bring a swimsuit or a bikini. Escape from the heat of the city!
Following this line, don’t forget the towel and flat sandals for water perfect for rocky beaches and rivers. Also, do not forget a hat and sunglasses to protect you from the heavy sunny days during hot summer months.
A toilet kit is also essential for daily cleanliness: toothpaste, hairbrush, shaver, hair accessories, earrings, necklaces, colognes, moisturizing cream, aftershave, etc.
If your destination is the mountains, don’t forget to add to your bag a pair of trekking boots and comfortable clothes for walking, underwear and a bottle of water for hydration!
But if you also love active tourism and decide on a rafting, canyoning, open kayaking, or hydrospeed experience, you should wear a swimsuit. In specific for rafting, bring a towel; and for canyoning, what you need to bring are a pair of water repellent shoes.
Recommendations for a unforgettable summer in the mountains
Raimon Monterde, expert mountain guide at RocRoi, shares the most important things to remember when we’re into the woods:
‘It is important, at first, to check the weather predictions online, as there are multiple mobile apps which can help you. Next, don´t forget to consult specialized websites to check the mountain routes and do not get lost during the path. And finally, wear comfortable clothes and warm clothes for the highest parts of the route where the wind is strong. Also, don´t forget to keep the environment in mind and bring a bag to put all the trash that we generate from our picnics.’
‘Do not forget that most of the places you will find yourselves in are natural protected spaces and it is so important to preserve them as we´ve found them. Do not pull-out flowers or mushrooms, do not tamper with local fairgrounds and respect the local fauna in its habitat. Although the most important thing is that, if you do not have experience in mountain routes, it is best to hire an expert mountain guide: you won´t need to worry about getting lost and your safety is assured. At RocRoi we offer this service for various hiking routes that we have. ‘
