Are you a teacher looking for a school trip for your students? You’ve come to the destination you’ve been looking for, read on and find out how!
School trips are a very important event in the school year for many reasons: they are the perfect moment to strengthen relationships within the group, they improve school performance, they learn more important values than in the classroom and if you find the ideal activities they have a great time.
So it’s not easy to decide, there are many external factors to control. Here we leave you with this post to help you decide what to do and where.
First of all, you have to take into account the activities they are going to do and the values they are going to learn from them. Adventure activities are a good option if your goal is for your students to have direct contact with nature while they are physically active, benefiting both body and mind. It is through outdoor activities that your students develop their psychomotor skills and senses.
In addition, learning about environmental education helps to reinforce the message about awareness of environmental issues and the importance of caring for the environment.
It is necessary to transmit these values to the pupils and that is why the teachers and, in our case, the guides, become references during the course of the activity. From the care of the natural environment through practice, to the discovery of areas of ecological protection of endangered species, reinforcing messages where students understand that they are part of the process of change and learn to practice sports in the environment and feel aware of it.
We have already given you some clues as to why it is a good option to choose an outing that includes outdoor adventure activities. Now we’ll give you some clues as to the best places to choose where to do them.
5 natural locations full of adventure for your students
Kayaking, sailing, rafting, canyoning, mountain biking, paddle surfing or hydrospeed are some of the outdoor activities that your students can do in the Pyrenees.
And they will be able to do all this in emblematic natural settings, locations that will not leave you indifferent. The aim is to promote values through adventure activities, adapting the contents to the different school stages. The ideal is to take advantage of the natural environment to carry out adventure activities and to show the importance of caring for the environment.
The first ideal destination to develop adventure activities for school groups is Vilanova i la Geltrú, with a Mediterranean climate, a place on the coast where you can be amazed by the reflection of the light on the sea. Vilanova i la Geltrú is one of the best geographically located options, with proximity to the train station for all those groups coming by train and easy access to the facilities for those coming by coach. In both high and low season, you can enjoy the Ribes Roges beach with adventure activities such as open kayaking, big SUP, paddle surfing, sailing and pedal skating. It is a trusted option for schools in Barcelona, Tarragona, Sitges, Vilafranca, Igualada, Sabadell, El Vendrell and Tàrrega among others, whether with activities and occasional excursions, training throughout the year or camps.
The second most popular destination is Llavorsí, the town located on the Noguera Pallaresa, between the Sort riverbank and the Vall d’Àneu. On the river we reinforce aspects such as teamwork and physical endurance with activities such as rafting, canyoning and open kayaking.
But that’s not all, in the Guingueta d’Àneu, next to the lake of La Torrassa, your students will be able to do activities in calm waters. All the outdoor activities that we propose are an opportunity to strengthen group relationships, transmitting the passion and care that a natural environment like this deserves and enjoying the course of the activity in safety. At the lake, effort, self-improvement and communication with the group will be present in the multi-activity archery, mountain biking and orienteering races.
Another option for school groups is Andorra: an ideal destination to let the adrenaline flow and admire the mountains. Located in the resort of Grandvalira, you can enjoy fun-filled snow adventure activities, from snowshoeing, igloo building, mushing to snowmobiling during the winter season, or guided hikes, orienteering activities in the middle of the forest and night-time excursions during the summer. School activities can be carried out in two sectors of the resort: Ordino Arcalís (north of Andorra) and in Grau-Roig (through the Moretó forest).
And the last destination is in the north of Aragon: Murillo de Gállego (Zaragoza), located 30 minutes from Huesca. Here you can spend a few days doing guided adventure activities and at the same time disconnect while staying in a hostel, rural house, hotel or campsite, accompanied by the magic of the Gállego river and a mountainous landscape worthy of praise. Canyoning and hiking in Sierra de Guara, multi-adventure circuits and water activities in Murillo de Gállego, via ferratas in Riglos or the “yellow humour” trials in Jaca, are perfect options to have a great time while promoting the most important values for children.
