Albert, originally from RipollĂšs, lives in NevĂ , but most of his work at RocRoi is in Andorra. His involvement in Mushing began as one of the first tasks he undertook in Andorra. Gradually, he became more engaged with RocRoi, eventually becoming the director of the entire snow vertical part. He also manages the commercial aspect and assists in other mountain activities throughout the year.
Mushing, a practice that became a part of Albert’s life over 16 years ago, quickly turned into his passion. This sport, which involves a special connection with sled dogs, has not only provided Albert with incredible memories but also the opportunity to introduce his children to this thrilling adventure.
The Secret of Dog Selection
With 75 dogs under his care, Albert and the Rocroi team have learned the secrets of selecting dogs for Mushing. The breed of dogs they use is “Alaskan Huskies,” a unique mix that takes various traits such as speed and energy into account to ensure a strong and efficient team.
Care and Attention to Dogs
The dogs are happy, healthy, and live in good conditions: the facilities are updated and include shaded areas, running water, and spacious yards for playing and running. Each enclosure houses between 3 and 4 dogs to facilitate contact and socialization among them.Â
Moreover, they make sure the dogs rest during the summer, allowing them to relax and prepare for the winter season.Â
Regarding their diet, it’s very basic but protein-rich: they eat high-energy kibble combined with chicken.Â
