Anna Sanabre, a passionate young woman, has dedicated her life to exploring and enjoying outdoor sports. From a very young age, she has felt a special connection with water and mountains, which has led her to live exciting adventures. Her love for nature and her adventurous spirit define her as a true #OutdoorLover, always looking for new experiences and challenges.
Tell me a little bit about yourself and how you got into the outdoor world.
My name is Anna Sanabre and I am 26 years old. Since I was very young, I have loved sports and, above all, water. Whenever I could, I would go swimming in the sea or in the pool.
I decided to study a higher degree in sports and that’s when I tried different disciplines. At the same time, I qualified as a lifeguard in natural areas and worked for a couple of years in swimming pools and on the beach.
I realized that I was fascinated by everything related to the sea. I worked for a company that rented equipment on the beach, including kayaking, and it was there that I discovered that I really liked it. Eventually, it became my favorite sport.
What is your favorite adventure sport and why?
As I mentioned before, it is sea kayaking and, nowadays, it is my passion. That’s why I wanted to learn more about this sport and got the specific qualification.
The reason why it is the sport I like the most is because I love the sea and being able to pass between rocks, enter caves and skirt corners that can only be explored by kayak is fascinating and indescribable.
Could you share your best memory or experience practicing this sport?
The best memory I have with kayaking is when I went around the island of Menorca. It was quite an experience. The first night we had to set up an awning because it was raining and windy. We woke up with the awning as our sleeping bag and we all ended up wet. During the crossing, we had a few days of very bad seas and could not go out to sea. We had to take refuge in a cove and it was an adventure I will never forget.
What do you think are the biggest challenges facing the outdoor sector (or your sport) today?
In my point of view, the outdoor sector and the world of sport are at a crucial point. Now more than ever, from a health perspective, the importance of doing sports is being emphasized and the population that practices them is growing more and more.
In kayaking, I think it is undervalued. In the field of studies, everything is done through the Catalan Federation of Canoeing and they are private titles, not at all economical and of short duration. In addition, they are only useful in Spain and, if you want to work abroad, they are not valued and it is as if you had no experience.
What advice would you give to someone who has never practiced this adventure sport?
My personal advice for people with no experience in kayaking is that it is much easier than it looks. It is a very safe, fun and fun boat that allows you to connect with the sea and with yourself. When you sit inside the sea kayak and close with the cockpit cover, I always say that it is as if the kayak and you were one person and that makes you feel it even more.
So I encourage everyone to try this sport, even if you have no previous experience. Starting with an open sea kayak and advancing little by little and progressing.
What activity of the RocRoi platform would you like to do that you haven’t tried yet?
Apart from the sea, I love the snow and RocRoi is a company that offers different sports in Andorra, in the snow.
I really want to try mushing. I really like dogs and being able to live the experience of having a sled ride and being carried, enjoying the scenery, must be really amazing.
