ASPID has launched the first program in the Catalan Pyrenees of adaptive adventure sports, an innovative leisure proposal aimed at people with physical disabilities with adventure sports at its core. The program aims to give users the opportunity to practice a wide range of leisure activities and acquire new knowledge and skills in a relaxed environment.
This program has allowed users with severe disabilities to participate in this program of adventure sports in Pallars Sobirà from 7th to 10th June. Participants carry out all kinds of activities (air, water and earth), such as paragliding in Ager, kayaking in La Guingueta, rafting in Sort, guided hiking in Lake Sant Maurici and observation of nature.
The experience has been possible thanks to the economic contribution of Castellers de Lleida through the project “Castellers Solidaris” (Solidarity Human Towers) and has had close cooperation of, among others, RocRoi in La Torrassa activity center, a perfect place for kayaking in an idyllic surrounding.
In addition, the work of highschool students of mountain sports speciality in Sort must be acknowledged. They have assisted ASPID users throughout the development of the adaptive adventure sports.
ASPID organizes an annual program of therapeutic holidays, which offers the possibility to enjoy a holiday in a safe and inclusive environment. In previous editions of the program, the proposed activities had had a different approach, focused on beaching and resting (L’Escala, Benicàssim, Barcelona, Comarruga and Tarragona), with quieter cultural and leisure activities.
Certainly an interesting initiative which we hope will be repeated. Many media helped to spread the news, and here there is a comprehensive collection, with links to various publications.
