Andorra: Guided hiking route to Estany de l’Estanyó – Gift voucher

The route starts next to the park information point at Portell de Sorteny at 1,880 metres. After passing the barrier that limits vehicle access, we take a forest track that leads to the Sorteny sheltered refuge, making several cetas in a gentle and continuous ascent. Well signposted shortcuts allow us to save some of the route by shortening the route through the forest that surrounds the forest track in this first stretch. At some points you will meet the rushing waters of the Estanyó River.

We will soon reach a small botanical garden where we will find a great variety of flora that inhabits the valley and the Pyrenees in general. Following the route along the forest track and after passing a second barrier, about 100 metres before reaching the refuge, there is a signpost indicating the turning to the right of the path that will take you to the Estany de l’Estanyó lake. This path is marked all along its route by yellow dots painted on stones and trees.

Cross the Estanyó River over a bridge in very good condition to follow the path through a meadow that soon enters a forest, at which point the slope becomes steeper and more demanding until you leave the forest.

From this point at 1,950 metres we enter a series of alpine pastures crossed by the different streams that carry water to the Estanyó River. The path always follows the left bank of the river on a gentle slope until we reach a new bridge that crosses it and leaves us on the right bank to reach the Estaño Lake located at an altitude of 2,340 metres.
